How to obtain/renew Chinese documents

Chinese Passport Renewal

Starting from January 1, 2007, the Chinese embassy does not accept the renewal (stamp) any more because the China government just issued a new version of the passport.
So you need to change for a new one. Go to the Chinese Embassy website and read it through carefully.

Several things you need to pay attention to:

You need to go to the Embassy/Consular office, such as DC office (for South Carolina).
You need to prepare a mail-back package (priority mail package is fine) so the officer can mail the passport back to you.
They will not accept the photos taken in CVS or Eckerd, just simply saying it's yours is not ok. They will take one for you there, $10 for one person.
The address for the DC office is 2201 Wisconsin Avenue, NW. Right behind this building, there is a parking lot. You can park the car there (it is really hard to find a parking along the street). $4 for one hour and $6 for two. The parking fee may increase over time.
It will take about an hour for the whole process.

Chinese ID Card Renewal - 身份证

Probably similar to renewing your Chinese passport.
However, Consular Office and Overseas Chinese personnel don't seem familiar with this, they just say "The Public Security Bureau in your home town in china can give you more information".

Obtaining Immunization Records from China

May be necessary if you plan to transfer or apply to another University, or if you plan to apply for permanent residence. It may also be required for some job application, such as in Education or Health.
